SHOCKWAVE:
YA HEARD A HIM
THIS GENERATION

Yeeeeeaaaahhhh!!! Shockwave came out with his first solo release and it's b-l-a-s-t-iii-n' straight up. I'm telling you, son! Shockwave used to be one of Zombi Squad's leading MC's. Zombi Squad's a group that used to rock stages in the mid 90's with no delay. Groningen (NL) was their home base and they got pretty popular in Germany and Scandinavia. That's where Shock met HipHop record producer Tommy Tee. They put their headz together and the idea of a solo 12" was born...

So here it is and we definitely heard a him: Shockwave, and the record is F r e s h. Now you wanna know of course, what the record is like. I'll start with the Shockwave side track: Ya Heard A Him. Play it on a 45 speed. The beat is ill, with many subtile samples and scratches. All done by Tommy Tee from Oslo, Noorwegen. When it comes to the lyrics, you really gotta pay close attention 'cause they're fast and complicated and hard to analize. But they flow like river Nile for sure...

This Generation on the Soundwave side is nice in a different way. What I like is the sample taken out of Musical Youth's "Pass the Dutchie". Ya remember? The young kid screemin': "This generation..."? That's the sample right there. Play this side on 33 speed. Oops! Mistake from the ones who were responsible for the pressing of the first 1000 copies. So make sure you get one of 'em before the next issue's comin' out. It's gonna be a collector's item. This Generation's got piano cuts in the beat and one sample that that definitely says the truth : "We gotta get together... we gotta organize". Arrangement and cuts done by Amsterdam's DJ Precise. The beat is pumpin' and candy to the ear. The lyrics are on a level only for experienced listeners, talkin' about mental subways, nigga's voices switch from high pitch to low bitch, nocturnal killerflows, boogie dancin' pythons etc etc. Damn, Shockwave's got the flow!

This 12" is a must have for sure, for the ones who love HipHop. It's so far one of the best 12"'s brought out on Dutch soil...
