Headfirst

Bright Shiny Beats(cd)
Why Not?(cd single)

New from the Netherlands, DJAX Records presents Headfirst! We received an album of the new dance-crossover crew Headfirst a few months ago. At this moment even Radio 3FM spins the single more the ones a day (mid-days!), "Why Not?", is top-song of the album. How can you describe Headfirst? Hmm, the first time I listened to the album I thought it was a production of Urban Dance Squad or Junky XL (also with The Silver Surfing Rudeboy) but with more acoustic instruments. Listen yourself to track2 of the album, its like Rudeboy hyped the crowd up there! Not, its Syklone the MC of Headfirst (catching name b.t.w.). Members are Ype Wielinga, the former guitar player of Eboman and does olso the beats, vocals and keyboards, DaRule on the keyboards and DJ Rockid 2 times DMC champ on the one and two's.

Headfirst started in 1997 and bombed the market with the single "Dis" later the toured all over the Netherlands, performed at Noorderslag, Metropolis and Lowlands. Headfirst has even success in Europe and in America with first-class performances. In 1999 DJAX Records signed a license deal with Smile Records USA and East West Records from Warner Germany. The single "Dance Fever" of the album To Da Bone has been released in the USA at the begin of spring 1999. The track "Dis" has also been licensed to many worldwide compilations.

So now its time to let Holland know who they really are and have launched there new album November 17th last year. The single takes it away, so hopefully the hole album does.
The performance should be all that, cause of the solo show of DJ Rockid and also a VJ show of Mac-Motion that should be worth seeing. I always liked the crossover bands like Urban Dance Squad and Junky XL but Headfirst has to many house influences, like they say it themselves. Support the music productions from Holland with international success and go to a concert or by the album of them. It is worth while for real.
