Def P
Cryptokilostijl

The "OP-schepper" is arriving with a solo-album. One of the two full length albums from Ramp Records.

'Def P's Cryptokilostijl' is working class product from the top shelf, and surely not to compare with the OP-albums (Osdorp Posse). The beats are less monotone and have much more variety. There are many samples used from an explaining scientist about subjects as 'pi', old school histories from OP performances and the B-boy Extravaganza in the Paradiso in Amsterdam. "Def P " featuring "Janor" from the Deventer Zuid-Oost Posse on ‘Psychologica versus Negative’, ‘Melkwegcirkels’.
The lyrics are very thoughtful and especially the track "Cryptokilostijl" is made so cryptically that the lyrics contain more than one meaning and flashbacks are being made. That all together becomes difficult to listen to, and the word flows meet you so fast that you can't comprehend what the lyrics are actually about. This is very irritating. It demands a great deal of patience. Dutch-rap must be better to understand than English-rap to get to the point of the lyric. Because, in general, it’s in our first language Dutch. Mostly it’s about commercial musicians, junks and bad MC's who must get dissed. The lyrics are also very long and not a real party CD.

One of the best tracks on the album is ‘Arbeidersklasse (Working-class)’ (lyric by Def P, music by Dick Tator and Labrat). It’s about pure HipHop and to keep it pure, so not about making big money and the consequences of staying underground. The track starts with "wat bracht de RAMP tot rollen" and a nice beat with a cool dull bass, really cool!! My conclusion about this album "Cryptokilostijl" from Def P: keep rollin' it's a good way for the HipHop, but enlarge the subjects and stop complaining about the commercial shit, P!
