Mind The Gap

Disorda is a hardworking English man who just keeps promoting, hustle and pushing the U.K. HipHop scene. On his own he released the tapes 'UK Hustlerz' and 'Mind The Gap'. A platform for up and coming HipHop talent from all over the U.K. The sound quality is like an average no-budget independent release on tape. But still you can pick out the talented.

We received two tapes from this man who runs his own mail order Suspect Packages. Although we have a rule that no original item we receive leaves the editorial office, I gave the best of the two to a new reporter. I was too lazy to make a copy. But the reporter never returned a review of the tape. After waiting and waiting here is finally the review of one of the tapes. Keep in mind that the tape ‘UK Hustlerz’ is the best tape out of the two.

‘Mind The Gap’ is a typical saying from London. Till the day I traveled for the first time by London underground, I did not have any clue what it meant. Travelling with the London subway my attention was attracted by a public announcement over the p.a. system. While getting out of the train I was wondering what they said. That resulted in a nasty struggle, since because the platform was in a curve there was a gap between the platform and the train, something I did not see. I was paying attention to the message that my ears were receiving. "What the fuck is that gap doing here?!", well the coin dropped also. The message was: "Please mind the gap." Well some stupids have to learn it the hard way.

We pick out the best songs on the tape.
Disorda opens up the tape with a song about having a pint over a mid tempo beat. Just Prem drops a happy party rap celebrating that he is free. Carry on what you are doing and think righteous. It’s a really sing a long song, you will get happy from listening to it. Makifaka Quillis & Nebuchadnezzar are ruling the world according to what they say in their song: ‘We Rule The World’. It’s a slow tempo track with a great head nodding beat with a good brewing piano sample. Nice melody in the flow and a self sung chorus line. It’s a good hook that you keep singing in your head.

"We rule the world/we getting the girls/with the diamonds and pearls/yeah we rule the world", Makifaka Quillis & Nebuchadnezzar.

Raw Tribe Killas from Brighton are represented with their remix of the song British Knights. The melody sample sounds like it’s taken from a Kung-Fu movie, it’s got the same sound quality. The fourth MC on this track is a master with a tight good flow and great melody in it. Doing that how-the-hell-was-it-called what-Das-Efx-became-famous-with but-never-outdid the-Demon-Boys on a decent amount.

Da Essence with the remix of their song ‘Now ‘Till Infinity’ brings forth the only female MC on this tape. The beat is massive up tempo conceived in a deep space atmosphere. The female MC, Franchise, takes also care of the chorus.

These are definitely the ones to keep an eye on. Like I said the tape UK Hustlerz is even better. Hopefully the review will pop up at the editorial in the near future.
