"If a Man commits a crime against ya, he must be paid back a thousand times", said by a scary Jamaican villain from a Steven Seagal Movie, followed by the gangsta-type track 'Nigga Run'. It’s obvious that the 'Mama Brendas Righteous Cartel' homies are Jamaica related in some way, because all other interludes on the album are jamaican quotes from movies or poets, I hope they take care of this on the next shit with some more creativity when it comes to interludes, but then again they bring us 17 tracks about this and that, mad issues related to their mad titles and on every track they flow the rhymes in an other manner this is dope yo! The laid back steez is back, non of that fast shit up in here.
Highlights are surely 'I Gotta Flow' where they big up their West Coast homies and accompany an ill beat with choir and piano strings or track 8 'Shit Changed' where they use a very known sample from the Meters which you only can dig if you are into the old-school sampling technique...Hah!! On 'R.O.T.D.' negrospirituals are the source of inspiration and on ’Things Ain’t The Same’ it's head bopping time on the laid back tip. Track 15 'Revelation' is a bit religious and the beat is dry and ruff. Its a waste that all the other tracks are a bit powerless while they got potential to score. There are hardly any samples used and they did handle the keyboards way too gentle while the rhymes are kicking, but neva the less its a nice album to listen to and in fact we should see them live before we can pass real judgment, they are new faces on the scene en they got skills coming, worth checking out.
