Masta J
Warrlordz

"To lose I refuse, I choose to use my ambition, so let me just demonstrate, my rhyme penetrate your mind, educate and activate your mental state, I hope you can relate, to the knowledge that I’m dropping. The Masta here ta let ya know what’s popping".

HipHop is what you are, it’s in your heart and not in your head. Born and raised with it. As a youngster Masta J started writing his own lyrics, which are the foundation for the style he developed during the years. The first gigs, successes and the first downfall that’s how it all started.

At the age of 17 Renaldo Oehlers started a group with homies which was called Gangsta Unit. They often performed for a not all too easy audience on mostly school parties, yet they still knew how to move the crowd with original and professional shows. Two years later the group broke up. Not long after that he started a new group called West Side Homies, an ambitious group that performed on a lot of shows. They also performed on TV, radio, on a local underground program called Daily Operation

The break trough was the Ex Coast, a joint venture with members of the Quest of Doom and Da Crew. They performed nationwide. They did a great gig at the Amsterdam Arena for a campaign named: "Je bent een rund als je met vuurwerk stunt." (you are a fool if you mess with fire works). After troubles with their manager he and two other members started a new group with three other homies called Lord Zkill. This group started at a good foot. They won the summer break festival ’96.

Master (Masta) was a title given to slaveskeepers back in the early days. ‘J’ uses the name to let the people know that he’s not just a rapper from Europe who tries to make it, but to make the people know that he’s a rapper with a goal. The J stands for Joker. That’s exactly what he is, a master joker, you never know when to take him seriously. It’s very hard to address the people like that, because they’ll never know whether he’s talking the truth or not. That can be very confusing if you want the people to know what’s the deal, cause they might be false informed.

Masta J writes stuff what’s in his heart. His flow is full with rhythm and poetry. He often uses demonized elements in his music, which is a perfect combination with the hardcore rap he brings you. His debut single Warrlordz features two raw MC’s from the west of Amsterdam. The intro contains a funny cartoonlike announcement (Go out and buy this record…). Which is followed with a raw mid-west like beat and crazy demonized samples. Masta J’s heavy lyrical flow has a good effect on the hardcore beat. The track is dope and it has crazy reggae influences, which is balanced in a positive way.
