De Onderhonden
Subwoefers

Yep! Underdogs translated in Dutch: Onderhonden. The underdogs of the Dutch HipHop rising from the (under)ground. Woef! Woef! A Dutch Wu- tang banger look-a-like which contains the 4 most awarding Dutch ('Nederhop') mc's, Remon, Loco- Motief, Castro the Communicator and Def P and de beatcreators (BC's), Seda and Warlock and some side -make-some-noise- rappers. A solid group of friends.

"Subwoefers" starts with an intro of the installation procedure of the computer game 'Command & Conquer' [Westwood Studios], which they have used as samples in a track on the album "Geendagsvlieg" from the Osdorp Posse. They also used some samples of KRS 1 and Public Enemy. Very promising you will imagine

Meanwhile I take another Tic Tac On the track 'Smokkelrijms (Smugglerhymes)' you can listen to a brand new style of rhyming. Rhymes who don't fit, but sounds dope. As intro you hear a specialist about how you should rhyme. "I rhyme words over borders".

Casto: "Is het Casto die blaft/en blaffende honden byten geen rijms"

'Vrijstijltjes' is a very dope track. MC Loco learns you speak French and imitates our old Prince Bernard very good. You can party on the phat beats on 'Gekte van de Wetenschap', including sound bites of our most beloved scientist: Dexter. It would have been nice to have Dee Dee as background vocalist.

Very moderate this first album of the Onderhonden. It's fun to listen to the lyrics and you can even make a game out of recognizing the many samples used. If you have an ear for it, you hear the I.N.T. from Eindhoven in a sample taking of the first Magic Sounds album.

Oh, what about this one: "Niks is zeker, zeker weten.(Nothing is for sure, I'm sure)"
