Phat Poodle

Insiders: Thicker Than Water...

Phat Poodle is a member of the North East Connection. Check the review 'North East Connection'. Phat Poodle is his nickname which describes the looks of this man. Now he dropped his own solo tape. His sound tells you from which connection he's from: Smooth Cee, Rhythmatic, N and Blatta. In the past years they developed their own unique sound. You can't compare them with east- or west-coast. There is nothing you can compare them with. Their own style attracts a lot of critic. But they keep on going.

"Tell me/what does it matter that I ain't from Gangsterdam (Amsterdam, ed.)/If I got skills/and hell yeah this motherfucker can jam/Nothing I tell ya/cause I'm just as the same brother from the capital/but he's got the name/But it's harder for me to get respect G/not from my homies back east/but from the rest.

Rhythmatic, Why? 1996

The lion share of the tape (total 13 tracks) is produced by Smooth Cee. Recorded with their own stuff. Skip the expensive studio. Of course there are some features by N, Blatta, Essay and Imaginary Friends. Scratches by Smooth Cee, DJ 4th Element and Logic. Phat Poodle's style is not quite for the mainstream, you could describe it as 'alternative HipHop'.
