Better Than Yours

Syd en L-B-No dropped several tapes before DJ Extraa hooked up with the two to complete the crew. What is HipHop without a DJ? The three from The Hague rolled on under a new name: The Group.

'Better Than Yours' is already the sixth tape of this crew. Producer/lyricist Syd a.k.a. Mr. Riko released also three tapes on his own. One solo, one with DJ Extraa and one with Reggy Lines from 'The Headliners'. You can check them out at the jam sessions at Musicon, The Hague.

Each separately: Reggy Lines, P-Irie and Jane all from 'The Headliners', DJ Ill-Co, Cautions, DNG, Mister Sweet and The Status & Kool Rob assist The Group on 'Better Than Yours'.

The tape is really stuffed with tracks: 25! For promotion there is a Pure Promo tape with three tracks and with a DJ track. You can hear it clear: they are enthusiastic. Their beats are mixed up with samples taken from Jurassic 5 (Concrete Schoolyard) and Group Home (Livin' Proof). Musical some tracks are very good. Their lyrics are positive and contain party rhymes as well as serious rhymes. Sometimes the articulation doesn't always come natural which causes that the flow doesn't match the flow of the beat. Although there are 25 tracks there is variation. They have their own style.

They are also taking care of the PR. Lay-out and logo are cool. A perfect bio and artful cover. Often people who release a tape forget to do this part of the job proper.
