Spookrijders

Klokken Luiders Van Amsterdam

Standing unasked in the national media's spotlight you would almost forget they released a new album. With the trouble going on the title of the new album is kinda perfect: 'Klokken Luiders Van Amsterdam'. It's all in the Dutch language but the dictionary does not give a translation. So we translate it like this:
1 Spookrijders = Ghost riders, peeps who drive into the wrong direction.
2 Klokkenluiders = Those who ring the clocks; who ring the alarm.

In the Dutch language there is a lot of garbage that is released. Same thing happens in the English language by the way. But this is a really good album. Different styles are used. Rap with Drum and Bass, Sranang Tongue and Spanish. Some how artists in the Dutch language were only using fairy tale records to cut up sound bites. Spookrijders used other Dutch artists. Like Yukkie B's: "Ik Ben De Man". It sounds like it should sound: dope.

The rhymes are right in your face and with a deeper content. Although they already have a good variation in their music, I hope they bring also more variation in their flow next time. Beat creator DJ Cliff treats us on phat tracks, some for every one. Experimenting with keys and samples. I love that. What I really appreciate is that they skip all that boring intro's and intermezzo's.

On vinyl and CD they deliver first class dope. And on stage they will rock you. Check also www.spookrijders.nl, www.djax.nl and 'Spookrijders Under Attack by 5-0'
